Coming up with family holiday ideas that will suit your whole brood can sometimes be very testing. However, there are a few places in the world that have something to suit everyone from little babies to sunseekers. Cheapholidays and travel guides will give you some suggestions so that you don't have to throw the brochures out of the windows and call a family crisis meeting.

1. Rhodes in Greece is welcoming and relaxing

The Greek island of Rhodes is the gem in the Greek crown. It has golden beaches, azure oceans and deep blue skies. If you have young children head to Pefkos in the east of the island. It is adorned with pretty golden coves and a main blue flag bleach perfect for building sandcastles. Pefkos is a purpose built resort but because it is so small, it has retained a village feel. The water in the smaller coves is perfect for snorkelling and the beach bars and restaurants come alive at night so you can enjoy a cocktail while the kids play on the bouncy castles, trampolines or get their faces painted. Pefkos is the perfect family resort and if you have older kids with you 18+ then can head to Falaraki for the night, or livelier Lindos which is just a short taxi ride away. There are a lot of amazing hotels and apartments in Pefkos. The water park in Faliraki is one of the biggest in Europe and has slides that are perfect for adrenaline junkies. The smaller kid's section is perfect for smaller children.  In fact, all the Greek islands are lovely from Corfu to Zante and the Greek people are very welcoming.

2. Lanzarote in the Canaries is as hot and exciting as its volcano

Year round sun, golden beaches, discount perfume and the only restaurant in the world where you can have your dinner cooked from the heat of the volcano. Lanzarote is a lot of fun. Puerto Del Carmen is the best resort for families. It is packed with shops, restaurants, family hotels and tourist attractions. The kids will love the zoo. See bird and sea-lion shows, visit the lions and let them zoom down the zip wire. There is a free bus to the zoo from most of the other resorts so don't worry if you decide to go to a quieter resort like Playa Blanca or Cosa Teguise. Buses run throughout the island so you can get to most places pretty easily. If you do fancy visiting the volcano it might be worth hiring a car. However, if you book an excursion to the volcano, you can try camel riding for a few euros.  One thing I love about the canaries is most of the hotels include entertainment so it keeps you busy at night. They are usually parrot shows, reptile shows or a cabaret. All inclusive is good value in Lanzarote especially out of season. Go in early June-September for the warmest weather.

3.  The Algarve in Portugal is beautiful and full of fun

Celebs have bought villas with patches of private beach here. It has pretty coves, traditional markets and a water park with thrilling slides and lots of them. The weather is gorgeous from May up until around October and best of all it is only a few hours from the UK. So, no long flights times if your kids get restless. Alvor and Albuferia are family favourites because they have nice beaches and calmer oceans.  Unless you fancy late night clubs and high rise hotels, steer clear of Praia da Rocha. The beach is amazing but it is a bit wild for little ones. However if you have older teens or you fancy getting a babysitter and shaking your tail-feather most hotels do night trips there.

4. Turkey is good fun for the young and young at heart

They aren't in Europe yet so the pound still goes a long way in Turkey. You will need a visa but they aren't expensive and it is a stunning place. There's a lot of different resorts in Turkey, it really depends what kind of holiday you want. Marmaris is lively and busy whereas Olu Deniz is more chilled with a paradise beach and turquoise ocean. The apple tea and Turkish delight are the best you will taste and the mud baths are a good laugh.

5. Orlando, Florida is a dream destination for families

Disneyworld,  Theme parks, water slides, Universal Studios, American food, gorgeous beaches, gorgeous weather, fairy castles, princesses and all your favourite characters, seriously though what is not to like. It is a dream destination that will light up their life and unleash your inner kid. Although for some of us it doesn't take much. If you want to push the boat out then this is the place to do it. The theme parks are ideal for kids of all ages and you can get park tickets for as many days as you like. The weather is always wonderful hence why it has been dubbed the Sunshine State. It is not cheap to go but you can get some good deals if you book in advance.
